Overview of department

The department has well qualified and experienced faculties including 3 readers and 21 lecturers out of these, 07 faculty members are pursuing M.E. and M. Tech. courses. The department also has trained technical supporting staff that compliments the performance of staff in the labs.

Department has well equipped laboratories including hardware and software meeting the latest curriculum of RGPV, Bhopal. Modern devices and gadgets including spectrum analyzers, DSOs, GSM, CDMA, LAN Trainers, TV and Radar Trainers make the institute a leader in the vicinity of Indore. We also have a separate computer centre and simulation lab equipped with computers having latest configurations. Software tools including Microsim (design lab), Matlab, TinaPro, Tina Lab II, Tanner, MicroSim, Xilnix support the labs in simulation and layout design of hardware.

The department has its innovations and quality procedures such as (1) regular updation of lab experiments, (2) improvement in teaching methodology using various A/V aids including LCD Multimedia display, OHP etc. (3) learning material development including lab manuals and lecture notes (4) Faculty and staff training, (5) Professional societies activities including IEEE membership, (6) Involvement of students in department-development activities, (7) Industrial visits and expert lectures for the students etc.

As a unique feature, the department possesses a well furnished remote centre for live technical lectures through Edusat satellite as a part of RGTU ISRO joint venture. It includes lecture transmission from Bhoj University and RGTU. Also, there is a setup for the reception of live lectures through Eklavya Technology Channel established jointly by all IITs. Both of these features help in improvising the technical knowledge of faculties and students on a regular basis. Hence there are opportunities for consistent upgradation and self development.

Moreover, there is a student workgroup named Vision-SVITS which intends to share knowledge amongst students to facilitate teaching beyond syllabus. The workgroup involves students from all departments and the mentor for this group is Ms. Mahima Mehta.

Working environment of the department is cohesive and congenial, having good interaction among students, faculty and supporting staff, and also with the neighboring Research and Development institutions and local industries. Many alumni of the department have pursued M. Tech. and Ph.D. in various IITs and abroad after securing high percentile in GATE and GRE. The department has seen good placements with premier industries including DRDO, ISRO, CAT, BARC, TEXAS, INFOSYS and TCS to name a few.
