Overview

This department is one of the first three departments introduced at the time of establishing the institute in the year 1995. As the trustees of the institute are associated with textile business they have been taking keen interest in developing this department. As a result today the department enjoys an excellent infrastructure in terms of laboratories and faculties. It has a nice blend of qualified and experienced (minimum of 3-5 years) faculties, one advisor, two Professor (One Ph. D. from IIT Delhi and other is M. Tech. from IIT Delhi with 15 years industrial experience), two assistant professors (one perusing Ph. D. at Hong Kong Polytechnic), 8 lecturers of which 3 of them have M. Tech. Such faculty ratio in a department is rare among private engineering colleges. The specialty of the department is providing a complete knowledge in textile and hence has established laboratories from fiber to garment (6 labs) including CAD/CAM, quite an uncommon feature among textile curriculum.

The department has maintained excellent relation with industry and organizes industry visits regularly and provides industrial training after II as well as III year of the degree. Many students projects are either industry sponsored or supported or the finding of few such projects are published in conferences and journals. The department is in the process of filing two Indian Patents based on its research. It has MOU with 2 organizations in the field of R&D.

To provide opportunity for overall personality development of students it organizes a national level technical paper presentation contest names, "Prayas" every year and also encourages students to present papers outside. Seminars, lectures and conferences are regularly organized.

The results of the students in final year has been more than 90% during the last 5 years while their placement is 100% with pay package ranging from 1.0 lakh to 4.1 lakh with an average of 1.5 lakh.

The department has the distinction of accreditation from NBA and boosts up to be the only one in the state of M.P. offering degree program in textile technology. From the year 2007 it has introduced specialization in 3 fields of textiles, based on industry demand, named, Textile Technology, Chemical Processing and Garment Technology.
